  • Dive into the dark: the sub pings its sonar in the Midnight Zone, surrounded by jellyfish and anglerfish.
  • Net creatures no one has named: glowing fish and a jellyfish caught in the floodlight.
  • Something is down there: Elena spots a huge eye below the sub on the Abyssal Plain.
  • Build your own aquarium: caught creatures on display and the codex of species.
  • Catalogue the abyss: the codex page for the sunken squid.

Twelve years ago, Elena's father took his submarine down and never came back up. Now his old radio buoy is singing from somewhere far below, and she's going down to listen.

ABYSS is a deep-sea diving adventure with a slow, creeping dread. Pilot your little sub down through the layers of the ocean, net creatures no one has ever named, and make it back to the surface before your air runs out. Every dive takes you a little deeper. Every metre gets a little darker.

Dive into the dark

  • Steer with a simple thumb joystick, or tap where you want to go
  • Watch your air and your hull: go too deep for your plating and the sea starts to squeeze
  • Find air pockets, strip old wrecks for scrap, and inflate your lift bags when you need to get out fast
  • Ping Dad's old sonar and watch the dark light up around you

Net creatures no one has named

  • 84 species in every sea, across seven zones from the sunlit shelf to the bottom of the trench
  • Jellies that sting, anglers with lures, things too long to fit in your floodlight
  • Catch them in quick succession for chain bonuses, and keep an eye out for rare glimmering ones
  • Every catch is different, and so is its price at the market

Something is down there

  • A story in five chapters, told by Elena as she goes deeper
  • Find the things her father left behind and piece together what happened to him
  • The deep has its own ideas: lights where there should be none, a bell with nothing to ring it, something enormous passing underneath
  • Atmospheric horror built on silence, darkness and sound, not gore

Build your own aquarium

  • Keep one of each species and put it on display
  • Visitors pay to see them, so your aquarium earns even while you're away
  • Fill the codex: every creature gets its own page with its look, its habits and where it's found

Upgrade your sub

  • A bigger oxygen tank, a stronger pressure hull, a brighter floodlamp, a faster engine, a wider net and more
  • Daily tide reports with a free gift and a WANTED creature worth triple
  • Side jobs, feats and zone surveys to work towards between dives

And when it's over

Finish the story and the sea changes. Dive again into new waters, with new species to find and a different voice on the radio.

Fair to play

ABYSS is free, and the whole story can be finished without spending anything. There are no forced ads: if you want a bonus (doubling a good catch, extra air for the next dive), you can choose to watch a short ad for it. Optional purchases include hull paints and a Supporter Pack that gives every ad reward without the ads.

Turn your sound up, turn the lights down, and dive.
